We just had our first Boot Camp regarding the book in Hornepayne and I think it was very informative--hopefully it helps our members--it certainly opens our eyes to the general state of Canadians Finances eh?!!

March 27th, 2010 starting at 8:30pm is Earth Hour. Hundreds of millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for an hour to demand action on climate change. Please participate by turning off your lights and any unnecessary electronics at that time. You are also welcome to join my group Make Every Hour Earth Hour, share your personal story, get some tips for lessening your impact on the environment, and see what others are doing.

I would love to see so much valuable information talked about on our site.We have a free site that is dedicated to active moms and their families in Greater Sudbury. Find discussions, healthy recipes, reviews, coupons and more. Sharing and learning from each other benefits all of us. http://www.sudburymoms.com

Your right Shelly! If you carry your credit card every where I tend to spend money that I noramlly wouldn't have. It's to easy. I say-leave the credit card at home and keep for emergencies. We tend buy now and pay later and that gets out of hand.Sometimes I think I should practise what I preach!!

Just as Bena learned a valuable lession from her Dad, I feel its also important to pass the info on to our kids. Our kids need to know that a small amount on a regular basis can really work for you in the end. They need to know that 'rainy day' money shouldn't be accessed on a regular basis because soon, you have no savings left. I think that people are either born to be spenders or savers. The savers usually take care of themselves - but the spenders need to know how important it is to be prepared for emergencies and how good it feels when you are self-sufficient and prepared! And of course everyone knows how opposites attract so - which one are you?

I got the best financial advice from my father. He always said "it's not dollar amount that you save monthly it could be a low as $5.00 it's what you have at the end of the 1,5,10 years." he also said once you have the first $1,000 it's piece of cake after that. He's right it gives you great feeling accomplishment when you see the amount grow. He raised 7 children and his annual income was minimal and no pension so he depened on savings,RRSP accounts. In my opinion I learnt from the best. In my experience as a lender most people cannot imagine saving's building unless it's a high amount, they want to see quick results,so they give up easliy. Here's an example I have saved $25.00 per pay for my grandaughter and she's going to be 9 in March. She has almost $10,000 .Save a little in the beginning and rewards always come in the end.
